Diet Tips to help you with your Weight Loss
- Drink Water - Drink six glasses of water a day. Water, which is zero calories, will help you curb your appetite, is healthy, and some believe it raises metabolism.
- Keep Low Calorie healthy snacks handy - When you have a craving, you'll have something on hand that won't kill your diet.
- Brush Teeth after dinner - This will help you avoid eating until the next morning.
- Exercise - Exercise. It's healthy and burns calories. Find an exercise you like and can stick with. That also means finding one that will fit in your schedule.
- Walk the stairs - Don't use the elevator at work, take the stairs.
- Park in the back of the lot - Get in a little extra walking each day by parking as far away from your building as possible.
- Eat Breakfast - Eating a healthy, low calorie, breakfast will keep your metabolism going, as well as help you to avoid that mid morning high calorie snack.
- Wait 20 minutes before going for seconds - If you are still hungry at the end of your meal, wait about 20 minutes until the food gets registered in you brain that you're full.
- Try low-calorie substitutes - Diet Bread, skim milk, low-calorie bars. Find ones, which taste good to you and then use them regularly.
- Plan ahead when eating out - Many restaurants have nutritional information online. Check the nutritional information first then make a plan on what to have.
- Check out the low calorie section on the menu first - Check for a low calorie section on the menu first and see if you can find something to eat there, before choosing one of those high-calorie photogenic, highlighted items.
- Bring half your order home - If you order out and get a large portion of something really good, eat half there and bring the rest home for another day.
- Be wasteful - Don't keep leftovers you don't really like just to save money.
- Get weighed every day - Get weighed every morning and at night too. This will prevent a string of bad binging days in a row.
- Don't be a party picker - When at a party pick the things you absolutely want, don't eat just because the food is there.
- Read the labels - Check out the nutritional information on everything you buy. Try to pick the lower calorie choice if possible.
- Eat slowly - Chew everything and enjoy your food. By eating slowly you will give your body a chance to feel full.
- Use Mustard instead of Mayonnaise - Mustard has no fat and very little calories.
- Don't let a bad day or week knock you off your diet - Everyone has a bad day once in a while. Refuse to let a bump in the road keep you from your goal.
- Remove skin from chicken - The skin on chicken has the most calories.
- Try baking or broiling instead of frying - Baking and broiling are healthier and more likely to be lower in calories then frying.
- Drink diet soda instead of regular soda - A regular 12-ounce soda contains about 150 calories as apposed to zero in Diet Soda.
- Document your success weekly - write down and track your weight once per week. A week is an enough time to see progress without day-to-day fluctuations.
- Keep your holidays to one day - Don't let holidays like Thanksgiving become four days of eating. Enjoy your holiday and get right back on your diet the next day.
- Use smaller plates - By using a smaller plate, you will take smaller portions and not overeat when you clean your plate.
- Stop using sugar in coffee and tea - Try a substitute sweetener in your coffee or tea, or you could try having it black or with cream only.
- Track everything you eat - Keep a daily diary of what you eat. This will allow you to see where you are successful and see exactly how much you are eating.
- Don't eat out of the bag - Take a portion and put it on a plate. Eating from a snack bag can go on and on and on.
- Create Peer Pressure - Tell everyone you know that you're on a diet, this will make it harder to cheat and your friends won't tempt you with goodies.
- Find Support - Join a support group or find a buddy to diet with either locally or online. Sharing ideas and encouraging each other can keep you both going.
- Be Positive - Positive thinking works. Believe that you can lose weight. Don't let yourself be sidetracked by your negative thoughts.
- Set small goals - Set reachable small goals for your weight loss. By making small goals it will show progress and keep you motivated.
- Don't eat unless you're hungry - Don't eat just because it's time to eat. Think first, if you're not hungry, don't eat, or grab a healthy snack and do something else.
- Say "NO". Don't eat to be polite - If you don't want to eat something say "NO". Just tell the person you can't because you're doing so well on your diet.
- Drink Green Tea - Green Tea is healthy and also is known to suppress your appetite.
- Have a Contest - Have a contest with your friends or co-workers. It can involve money or just pride. Set goals and time limits.
- Substitute Salsa for Butter - Try using Salsa on a Baked Potato instead of Butter.
